A. Academic Qualifications
Applicants must hold one of the following:
An Israeli Matriculation Certificate (Bagrut), or
An equivalent qualification, such as:
A recognized pre-academic preparatory program approved by the Council for Higher Education
A foreign high school diploma recognized by the Ministry of Education
A “30+ Preparatory Program” certificate
B. Written Examination
Music Theory Test:
Intervals – identification and construction
Triads and seventh chords in root position – identification and construction
Inversions of triads and seventh chords
Scales and modes – identification and construction
Transposition
Reading and writing in treble and bass clefs
Harmonic and/or melodic analysis of a jazz piece
Melodic dictation (single-line melody)
Jazz harmonic progression dictation
Rhythmic dictation
C. Performance Audition
Applicants are required to perform three pieces in different styles. The selected repertoire should be varied in character and demonstrate the applicant’s range of abilities.
Applicants must provide sheet music/charts for the pieces performed in the audition.
Applicants should attend the audition with an accompanying musician, if required.
Applicants must indicate the list of prepared pieces in the application form.
The examining committee reserves the right to hear only part of the prepared repertoire.
D. Required Documents
- A general medical certificate confirming the applicant’s overall physical condition
- It is recommended to include a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s instrument instructor at the time of application
